In 2021, we embarked on an ambitious project: transforming an old, abandoned building into a 4-star guesthouse in the heart of the Bugey region, combining historical charm with modern comfort. Two years of meticulous renovation were required to breathe new life into this residence and create a unique place to welcome couples, families, and lovers of unspoiled nature.

The metamorphosis of the first gîte: room by room

Each space in the cottage has been carefully redesigned and restored, respecting the soul of the building.

• Master bedroom : Versailles parquet flooring, delicate moldings, carriage lanterns… an elegant and warm haven.
• Children's room : a paradise for little ones with bunk beds, toy cupboards and soft colors, designed for dreaming and playing in complete safety.
• Kitchen : travertine floor, glass hatch to access the cellar and preserved rounded window, combining old-world charm and modern comfort.
• Living room : A preserved marble fireplace, an oak glass roof and restored antique furniture, a space where authenticity and comfort meet.

A family-run, artisanal renovation

This project was carried out primarily through self-renovation , with each person contributing their specific skills:

• Laurent : cabinetmaking, renovation of antique furniture, layout and joinery, carpentry, electricity and plumbing.

• Delphine : insulation, plasterboard joints, lime plastering, laying travertine and cement tiles.

  And because it is first and foremost a family adventure, our children were also part of the team : little hands to help, strong arms to carry things, always very (very) frank opinions on the decor choices… and of course, rigorous quality control of the pool and outdoor spaces!
